RoundTable Healthcare Partners and Dempsey Ventures
Announce Sale of Beaver-Visitec International to TPG Capital
July 18, 2016 — RoundTable Healthcare Partners ("RoundTable") and Dempsey Ventures announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement to sell Beaver-Visitec International Holdings, Inc. ("BVI" or the "Company") to TPG Capital ("TPG"). TPG is a global private investment firm founded in 1992 with over $70 billion of assets under management. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter.
BVI, based in Waltham, MA, is a global developer, manufacturer, and marketer of specialized surgical devices for the ophthalmic marketplace. BVI brings together the brands of Beaver® blades, Visitec® cannulae and instruments, Merocel® and Weck-Cel® ophthalmic fluid management products, and Wet-Field Eraser® electrosurgery products. The products serve a wide variety of ophthalmic surgeries, including cataract, refractive, oculoplastic and vitreoretinal sub-specialty procedures. The Company operates two state-of-the-art manufacturing plants in Waltham, MA and Bidford in the United Kingdom. RoundTable formed BVI in 2010 by acquiring and integrating three separate ophthalmic product businesses from Becton Dickinson, Medtronic, and Aspen Surgical, respectively.
Dempsey Acquires Minority Interest in VN Industries
January 01, 2016 —Dempsey Ventures has made an investment in VN Industries, Inc., a textile products business with manufacturing in Vietnam and a US office and warehouse in Grand Rapids, Michigan. VN Industries specializes in healthcare products such as slipper socks, surgical towels, baby towels and baby caps. Its 185,000 square foot manufacturing facility is located just outside of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The factory employs over 500 workers and includes dyeing and knitting operations as well as a controlled-environment manufacturing space.
Dempsey Invests in TIDI Products
July 01, 2015 —Dempsey Ventures has co-invested with Roundtable Healthcare Partners in TIDI Products based out of Neenah, Wisconsin. TIDI is a manufacturer and market share leader of innovative infection control and patient safety products for use in hospital, clinical and other environments where infection control is critical. Dan Bowen will serve on TIDI’s Board of Directors.
