Its brands include Congoleum, Johnson Hardwood, Mercier, Matrexx, Shawmark and Homecrest. The purchase by Dempsey is an example of a owner looking to transition their businesses to an investor who lives and works in West Michigan, desires to own the business long term and keep the business in the community.

May 1, 2022—Dempsey Ventures announced today that it has co-invested with Shore Capital Partners in AA Medical Store whose mission is redefining the 3rd party medical device market. AA Medical Store strives to connect every doctor and surgeon in the world with affordable, high quality medical equipment from the best-known OEMs in healthcare. Since being founded in 2012, it has grown its headquarters facility in Chicago and opened a second office in Miami in 2015. Dan Bowen has been elected to the Board of Directors.
Majority Interest in SunMed Group Holdings Sold to Frazier Healthcare Partners
Dempsey Ventures is pleased to announce that it has sold a majority of its ownership interest in SunMed Group Holdings, LLC to Frazier Healthcare Partners, a leading private equity firm focused on healthcare since 1991. SunMed is the first investment by Frazier’s recently raised tenth fund. Dempsey will remain a minority partner in SunMed and participate on its Board of Directors. Dempsey chose to partner with Frazier to continue SunMed’s culture of service to its customers and growth through strategic acquisitions and new product introductions. SunMed’s merger with Salter Labs in 2019 and purchase of Westmed, Inc. in 2020 helped it become a global manufacturer of anesthesia and respiratory products with over 3,000 employees worldwide.

Dempsey Ventures is pleased to announce SunMed Group Holdings’ acquisition of Westmed, Inc. in September of 2020. Westmed manufactures products at three facilities in Mexico and its two locations in Tucson, Arizona include molding and assembly operations as well as the administration and distribution functions. The transaction substantially expands SunMed’s product portfolio and low-cost manufacturing capacity which will enable us to better serve our customers.
This is Dempsey Ventures’ fifth investment in the anesthesia/respiratory space which began with its 2006 purchase of SunMed. SunMed Group Holdings, LLC, is an FDA-registered manufacturer of airway management, anesthesia, respiratory and surgical care products sold under the SunMed, Salter, Westmed, IntuBrite, Ventlab, Ethox, Cookgas, Beavers, Monitor Mask, Zefon and InnoMed brand names. It has grown to be a global business with four manufacturing locations in Mexico, a facility in China, distribution centers in the US, Mexico, China and Europe and over 3,000 employees world-wide.
